How to keep your Facebook safe.

We have a number of security measures in place to help protect you and your information when you use Facebook. An example is Safe Browsing 7 When you log in to Facebook, your activity - for example posting a status or sending a message - is encrypted, which means that people cannot access it without your permission. Another example is Spammy Content 7 If you accidentally click on a spammy post, we have some tools to detect the virus on your computer and we will help you to remove it. Here are some ways to keep your Facebook account as secure as possible

Using strong passwords: the first line of defense:

Always use passwords that are hard to guess - they must be at least six characters long and use a combination of numbers, numerals and special characters. You should use a different password for each of your email and social media accounts As a result, if someone finds out your password, that person will not be able to access all of your accounts. This may sound obvious, but don't share your password with other people - even if that person is close to you - and don't forget to log out while using a friend's phone or computer.

Set up unknown login alerts:

On Facebook, we have a number of specific ways to detect suspicious behavior on your account, and we'll let you know if we see any. We also have some tools that you can turn on at any time to find out if someone has logged into your account from an unknown computer or phone. These alerts will tell you from which device the login was attempted and where it is. To receive warnings about unknown logins: Go to your security and login settings by clicking on the top-right corner of Facebook and clicking Settings> Security & Login. Go to alert about unknown logins and click edit Choose where you want to receive your alerts, such as from your email account or a Facebook notification from a known device. Click Save Changes If you receive a notification about an unknown login and know that someone other than you has tried to log in, let us know and we'll help keep your account secure.
