The list of winners of the 68th National Film Awards of India was announced yesterday. The award is given in various disciplines for contribution to Indian cinema. The award announcement started at 4 pm on Friday at the National Media Center in Delhi. The names of the award winners are announced one by one. Separate awards are announced in two categories – Feature and Non-Feature. Bollywood star Ajay Devgn and South star Suriya fought at this year's National Awards. Ajay starrer 'Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior' was selected as the Best Entertaining Popular Film. Ajay jointly won the best actor award for this film. 'Surarai Patru' also won the best actress award. Aparna Balmurli won the best actress for her role as 'Sundari' in the film. Apart from this, the film directed by Sudha Kangara also won the award for the best screenplay. The Hindi remake of the much acclaimed film has already been announced. Where Akshay Kumar will be seen as Suriya. Apart from Suriya and 'Surarai Patru', South Indian stars won this year's award. Late Malayalam director Sachindanandan won the best director for 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum'. Apart from this, the best supporting actor and actress awards were also received by the southern performers. Filmmaker Vipul Shah headed the 10-member jury for the 68th National Awards of India. 305 feature films in 30 different languages were submitted to the awards this year.
